Hi, I am not sure why it is not working, I will look at the code and release an update if necessary.
In the mean time it is pretty simple to fix manually.

The app makes a back of the files changed on the sdcard in /sbheadset/backup
You can copy those 2 files using a files explorer with root privileges such as ES Explorer to to /system/usr/keylayout

If that does not work you can edit the files in the system folder manually here are some complete steps to make things foolproof.

As I can not see what is happening with your device here is my advice to fix:

      1) Install the Keytest App from here

      2) Once inside the app, press the headset button. It should show that HEADSETHOOK is recognized as scancode 226. (If not, just make note of what number it does come out as.)

      3) Download ES Explorer if you don’t have it already from the play store here:

      4) Using ES Explorer, go to /system/usr/keylayout and long click and edit both of these files Generic.kl and sec_jack.kl

      4) You will modify these two files on two different lines.

      key 163 MEDIA_NEXT WAKE
      key 226 HEADSETHOOK WAKE

I have posted details on how to return to defaults manually if you have and difficulties. It is pretty simple to do. I apologise for the auto restore feature not working for your device, however you will find backups on your sdcard and you can simply copy them back to your system to restore maually
